Airwars assessment
Shortly before 1:30 PM on Friday, 29th November 2024, two civilians were injured by an aerial bombardment reportedly perpetrated by the Syrian regime forces and/or the Russian military on a poultry farm located on the eastern outskirts of Binnish city, east of Idlib, Syria.
The Syrian Civil Defense (also known as “White Helmets”) reported the strike at 1:31 PM and included photos of their observation of the site after the incident. They confirmed there were two injuries and no further casualties. However, they did not name the civilians. The photos showed a lot of rubble created from damage to the building.
The Facebook account of the Syrian Civil Defense also shared a video depicting the aftermath of the incident. According to this video, two strikes hit the farm: one of them hit the building, and another one was near the building, where a large crater in the ground is seen.
The details were corroborated by other outlets such as Arsheef post, Yazan post, Dajlh post, and by a number of Twitter/X posts.
Journalist Yazan Al-Sayed filmed a video showing the aftermath of the strike, posting it on their Telegram channel and Facebook.
Twitter/X account “Syria moment by moment” (@Almohrar1) also shared a video from the damaged poultry farm, where, alongside the concrete blocks, many dead chickens can be seen, but some were still alive.
While the majority sources attributed the airstrikes to the “Russian-Syrian alliance”, a Facebook post from Abd al Razak specified that Russian forces were responsible for the airstrikes on Binnish. Therefore this incident has been graded as a “single source claim”.
The incident occured at approximately 1:30 pm local time.
