Airwars assessment
On the morning of Saturday, November 30th, 2024, three members of a family, a child and two women, were injured in an alleged Russian airstrike on Hazwan village, east of Aleppo, Syria.
The Twitter/X’s account of Syrian Civil Defense (@SyriaCivilDefe) reported that the civilian casualties were “from the same family” and “were injured in a raid by the Russian-Syrian alliance aircraft”.
Maktab, via Facebook, claims that “Russian warplanes bombed the area between the villages of Hazwan and Abla, which are occupied by Turkey, in the Afrin and al-Shahba cantons.” A post by an administrator of the Facebook group “Bab News and the World” reported that the airstrike occurred during the “intensive flight of #Russian warplanes and reconnaissance aircraft in the skies of northern Aleppo”.
Al Hadath and Al Arabiya, via Facebook, provided a similar civilian casualty toll according to Syrian Observatory for Human Rights and separately published two different images showing columns of black smoke rising into the sky over the affected area, with reduced visibility due to the smoke.
Where sources attributed the strike, all identified Russian forces as being responsible.
The incident occured in the morning.
