Airwars assessment
Between one and three civilians were injured by an alleged US airstrikes on the Bir Zaid neighbourhood in Al-Jarf, Sanaa on April 24, 2025. The strikes reportedly occurred in the middle of the night.
@TvAlmasirah quoted the Ministry of Health which stated that three citizens were injured by the US “aggression” on Al-Jarf neighbourhood in Sanaa and Al Salem and Sahar districts in Saada. A Facebook post from Alaa Al-Ayashi provided a similar injury toll of three, stating that they were injured when “the bombing targeted the wall of a house in the northern Bir Zaid neighbourhood” in Al-Jarf. A Facebook post from Ismail Hassan Al-Kabsi Badil reported that “A citizen sustained minor injuries” while the majority of sources which reported an injury toll of three referred to the injuries as minor.
A video from @TvAlmasirah showed the “damage to citizens’ homes and properties” included a truck which sustained damage to its windshield, a car that was crushed by a collapsed wall, and the blood of one of the victims.
Walking around the site of the strike, a presenter from TV Al Masirah says that only one person was injured, and that that individual was taken to the hospital before the TV crew arrived. With this statement, the camera shows a bloodied seat in a kind of outpost where a home or building’s security person or guard may sit. The presenter walks through the rubble of a home and points to a large crater, saying that it was left by the US strike which occurred in the middle of the night, about half an hour before the crew arrived to report at the scene.
The video goes on to show an interview with a man, presumably from the neighbourhood, who says that the strikes appear random, and that there was no reason for the strikes in Bir Zaid. He said that the area is residential, and women and children live in the area.
Another man, interviewed at the end of the video, reiterates that there was no reason for the strike in the neighbourhood. He went on to say that the individual who was injured was a “حارس”, which translates to guard, but whose responsibilities primarily include aiding in domestic matters like brining groceries into the home, washing the car, and maintaining a home or building’s exterior. The position is not an armed one.
The incident occured at approximately 12:00 am local time.
