Airwars assessment
Five civilians were killed as a result of the alleged Israeli strike on the town of Shamaa, Lebanon, either on or in the days before November 27th 2024.
On that day, the Lebanese Civil Defense Directorate General reported on its Facebook account, “the bodies of five martyrs were recovered from under the rubble in the town of Shamaa.” It is not clear whether the attack happened on the preceding day or on earlier days. The Civil Defense Directorate General listed the retrieving of the bodies among the “tasks of the elements of the General Directorate of Civil Defense at the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities, as a result of the Israeli aggression on Lebanon.”
A video shared by @HIsham10452 on Twitter/X with the caption “Shama town square and the shrine of Prophet Shimon” showed piles of debris, rubble, and concrete chunks.
Airwars classified the strike status as “single source claim” and the civilian harm status as “weak” given the scarce information on the strike and the victims.
The local time of the incident is unknown.
