On Sunday morning, November 5th 2023, 12 civilians, including four women and six children, were reportedly killed and a number of civilians were injured when an alleged Israeli airstrike hit the home of the al-Haddad family located near the Taj Mall and al-Farouk Mosque to the west of al-Zaytoun neighbourhood in Gaza City.

The Ghazan Shehab Agency reported the incident at 11:47 AM, writing about “martyrs and injuries.” Palestine Today TV also reported the alleged Israeli airstrike as it occurred near their office. Multiple sources, including Shadi Press and Shehab News Agency, reported injuries in the alleged Israeli airstrike but did not specify a number.
All 12 victims reportedly killed in the attack were members of the al-Haddad family. 51-year-old Hanan Tayseer Shukri al-Haddad, also known as Umm Omar, given her role as matriarch of the family, was allegedly killed alongside her son, 12-year-old Ahmed Youssef Omar al-Haddad, and her two daughters, 20-year-old Iman Youssef Omar al-Haddad and 26-year-old Hiba Allah Youssef Omar al-Haddad. Hiba’s two daughters, five-year-old Farah al-Rya Rajab Musleh and two-year-old Reem al-Rya Rajab Musleh, were also reportedly killed in the alleged Israeli airstrike on the family home.
Abdullah Yusuf, son of Umm Omar al-Haddad and brother to Ahmed, Iman and Hiba, shared photos on Facebook of two young girls who would appear to be Farah and Reem. The two girls were both wearing bright green dresses and playing together.
29-year-old woman Israa (Asraa) Imad Saadi al-Haddad was also killed in the attack along with her three young children: five-year-old daughter Hanan Omar Youssef al-Haddad, three-year-old son Yousef Omar Youssef al-Haddad, and one-year-old son Abdullah Omar Youssef al-Haddad. Abdullah Yusuf, Israa’s brother-in-law, shared a photo of the three children nicely dressed and sat together on a sofa with the two eldest showing a thumbs up for the camera.

According to a Facebook post from Fadia Alhaddad, cousin of Riyad, who reportedly lost his life in the strike on the family home, the home belonged to Yousef al-Haddad. Fadia reported that 12 people were under the rubble of the home, which aligns with the death toll presented here.
