Airwars assessment

In the early hours of 5 November 2023, at least 15 civilians were killed, and dozens, including a child, were reportedly injured in the alleged Israeli bombing of the Sabah and al-Jarjawi family houses in the al-Masha’la neighborhood in Deir al-Balah in the center of the Gaza Strip.

According to Safa.ps, at 06:20 local time, dozens of wounded and killed civilians arrived at Al-Aqsa Hospital as a result of the bombing of a house in Deir Al-Balah in the center of the Gaza Strip. Muthanna Alnajjar posted that “more than 15” civilians were killed in the bombing.

The Palestine Vanguard Group and @YouthGoDigital stated that the house belonged to the al-Jarjawi family in the al-Masha’la area of Deir al-Balah, with no confirmed names or number of injuries. Several other sources reported that the house belonged to the Sabah family, including posts by Salah Aldeen on Facebook and @_Ahmad_mazen and @yahialvb on Twitter/X. Apparently, both houses were hit in the strike.

Kamal Omane shared a photo of a number of people arriving at Al-Aqsa Hospital, with a caption confirming that the house belonged to the Sabah family. The photo depicted several men crowding around a truck, with some seemingly unloading bodies off the truck. Others stand with their phones, taking photos or videos of the scene.

It is confirmed that at least one child was injured. A video shared online by Ahmad Eid showed a female child sitting on a hospital floor, their legs outstretched in front of them and their arms shaking. The child was shown shivering and wincing as the doctor spoke to her. The doctor asked the injured child about her name, and she told her that her name was Zeina Al-Ajl, and that her father’s name is Hamza.

She was wearing a green football jersey and matching shorts, covered in dirt and dust, with the majority of the dirt over their face. The accompanying caption reads: “A child is pulled out from under the rubble of a house bombed by the occupation a short while ago in Deir al-Balah…
