Airwars assessment
On November 10, 2024, reports emerged of civilian injuries following an alleged Israeli airstrike on the Abu Tamam School in Beit Lahia, located in the northern Gaza Strip. According to reports, the school housed a significant number of internally displaced people.
Several users and media outlets, including Al Qastal Al Ikhbari, reported that injured individuals were brought to the medical facility at Beit Lahia School. A video shared on Facebook shows a man with an improvised bandage around his leg being carried in a wheelchair by four other men seeking medical assistance. The scene captures a crowd gathered in urgency, highlighting the chaotic aftermath of the incident. The video, attributed to Beit Lahia School, was widely shared on November 10 on Facebook and Twitter. Official news outlets, such as Safa News, also reported injuries resulting from this airstrike.
A video purportedly showing the interior of a classroom was circulated widely online in connection with this incident. The presence of a blackboard and children’s coats confirms it as a school setting. A large hole in the ceiling, apparently caused by an airstrike, is visible, with debris scattered across the room. The video includes audio of distressed voices off-screen, suggesting it was recorded shortly after the strike. It also shows a teenage boy, his clothes covered in dust, attempting to retrieve what appears to be a bag from the debris.
Another image shared widely displays the Beit Lahia skyline, prominently displaying the plume of smoke from the explosion. This image, also shared on November 10, has been attributed to the strike by media outlets such as Sky Palestine, Asma Al Shatat Al Falstini, and Khabar24 News.
The strike status has been graded as a “likely strike” by Airwars due to the repetition of sources who mentioned Israel as being responsible for the strike, with the Civilian Harm Status as “fair” due to multiple different sources mentioning the civilian harm.
The local time of the incident is unknown.
