Airwars assessment
On Friday 29 November 2024, an airstrike reportedly hit the village of Frika in the Idlib governorate, injuring seven civilians, six of them children, all from the same family. The attack has been attributed to the Russian military and/or Syrian regime forces.
The first information about the incident came from @SyriaCivilDefe on X/Twitter at 22:59 on Friday, who also reported that their team was able to help the injured and inspect the site. This information was shared by other X and Facebook accounts, but no further details were given about the attack or the civilians involved.
Syrian Network shared an image on X/Twitter showing a damaged building with a collapsed wall and blood stains among the rubble. The image was taken at night, but did not specify whether the image was from the Frika strike or the Sarja strike also reported in the same post. Al Hadath Syria also published an image on Facebook of what appears to be the moment of the strike, which, although blurred, shows a large explosion lighting up the sky over a residential area.
The @SyriaCivilDefe has attributed the attack to the “regime and Russian alliance”, while @snhr specifically attributed the strikes to the Syrian regime while both Al Hadath and Alarabiya posted similar information on Facebook and attributed the strikes to Russian forces.
The incident occured at approximately 10:59 pm local time.
